— FIRST IMPRESSIONS —

APPEARANCE Dark, wavy brown hair to his chin, blue eyes. Five o’clock shadow. Creeping chest hair. Lightly muscled. 5'11"-ish.
After Ciri's magic backfired on him during a magic lesson in October, he now sports a large scar that starts at his wrist, draws up his forearm, and ends near the point of his elbow. He doesn't make attempts to hide it.
CLOTHING Dressed to kill: doublets tending towards darker shades of blues, golds and reds, or longer coats of pressed leather. Typically paler undershirts underneath of creams or beiges, with ruffled sleeves. He wears his clothes in a fashion equivalent to a medieval harlot, with his doublets often unbuttoned or half-unbuttoned, the collar of his undershirts low to show a scandalous amount of his chest. Several rings on both hands, and wears a ring of bone on a chain as a necklace. Occasionally wears a really sick hat.
DEMEANOR Approaches people initially with sarcasm or politeness. A natural Sun: smiles come easy, and his face is very expressive, with lots of eyebrow movements. Talks with his hands often, especially when excited or afraid. He is very wiggly, constantly on the move, even when performing. Rubs his fingers on the same hand in circular motions in times of high stress. Jaskier will often use humor to divert conversation or distract from morose topics. Extremely English, especially his humor, even if he’s from fantasy not-Poland. He will say pretty much whatever comes to his mind without too much filter, unless the situation calls for decorum.
OLFACTORY Rich wood oils (used on his lute); florals; frequently ale, wine or liquors.
AURAL Jaskier is not a quiet man. He has a noticeable English accent and speaks quite quickly, often talking over others or speaking so fast they can’t get a word in edgewise. So you know why your next tag has a wall of text in it. Jaskier can have entire conversations with himself without much input from others. Curses pretty often. He will happily speak in a baby voice to cute animals. He will also complain about things, a lot. Jaskier will probably yell if you’re mean to him.
AURAL (MUSIC) When he is not busy complaining, Jaskier is a performing bard and a very fucking good one. He is a master of various instruments, including spoons. He is extremely famous and will most likely not let you forget it. His performances are high energy for the most part, and he will dance or sway in time with the beat, though he still has his morose little love songs too. And songs of heartbreak.
His earlier works include “You Think You’re Safe,” “The Fishmonger’s Daughter,” “Her Sweet Kiss,” and, of course, the eponymous “Toss A Coin To Your Witcher.”
For a period after his second-season canon update, his songs held an undercurrent of righteous anger and heartache. Those songs included “Burn Butcher, Burn;” “Whoreson Prison Blues;” and “The Golden One.”
After war begins brewing and spilling across the Continent, Jaskier's songs take on a more rebellious nature. His most recent songs include “Ride, Witcher, Ride” and “Song of the Seven”. There are also works that are more somber in nature, tinged with regret with what has been lost: “Enchanted Flowers” and “Extraordinary Things”.
REPUTATION As one of the longest-standing Summoned in the Free Cities, as well as one of the most famous, nearly every soul in the Free Cities, and especially Cadens, has heard of or knows of Jaskier. After his growing and constructing Willow Memorial Park (with Alucard, who agreed to take less attention for it), Jaskier was granted the title "Gem of the Phoenix" by the people of the Free Cities.
Barring even his constant barking and performances in Cadens taverns, Jaskier has put on several concerts, not only in Cadens, but in Aquila and Libertas as well. Several concerts have been done for charity efforts, including raising money for the Arts Restoration Committee (which he heads alongside Alucard, with aid from Libertas's Quilleth), the creation of Willow Memorial Park and for the reconstruction of Libertas, and for the Academy and research sciences in Cadens.
During the Summit between the Free Cities, Thorne and Solvunn, he also performed for the people of all three factions.
Jaskier was one of three delegates that were sent to Nocwich when the region was first opened to the Summoned. There he met with Sten, the leader of the werewolves, who he has held subsequent meetings with, alongside Quilleth Kaur.
Recordings of his music are now publically available at a grammophone set up in Caden's Old Public Hall, and have been placed in Oleuni Square in Nocwich as well.
Mat, a Summoned in Thorne, also performs songs Jaskier has taught him in Thorne, and there are still songs that still linger in Thorne's shadier halls from the time Jaskier busked in Thorne and its surrounding city.
Additionally, Jaskier is the sole owner and proprietor of A Song of Saplings, a plant and floral shop that is said to sell foreign, exotic, and impossible plants of all varieties. Jaskier is there essentially when he feels like it between his performances, but he also has employed a young Libertas orphan to run the shop in his stead.
Jaskier is also known about the city as the owner and rider of a golden Chocobo, which he saved (and began taking care of) during the Rift event. Feainna the Chocobo now resides in a permanent stable attached to the Witcherfam's household alongside the two horses of the family.
— SPELLS —
Jaskier is completely human and has no special abilities he’s brought in from his home, so this will only list spells he has learned specifically during his time in Abraxas with descriptions.
MINOR ILLUSION A semi-transparent illusion that moves and can react to external stimuli, then ends in a small pop of colored lights. At the moment, Jaskier’s go-to illusion is a small bird.
After several months of practice, Jaskier can now craft several illusionary birds that look more solid and realistic.
With even more practice, Jaskier can maintain one solid, permanent bird of any form. He has given his one permanent bird to Sam, in the guise of a small hunting hawk.
His illusionary bird spell has solidified, and now Jaskier can create true birds of various sizes and species, that act and move of their own free will.
Jaskier now maintains two permanent birds: Sam's hawk and a sandpiper that was sent across the continent to Yennefer in Thorne.
CREATE WATER As a result of his further exploration into other magics outside of birds, he can create small amounts of water. Over time, he can increase the volume of water if it is stable.
BOTANY Granted by his first experience in Horizon, Jaskier can manipulate, grow, and kill most plants outside of trees. He can encourage trees to grow or move, but cannot kill them or fully control them. With practice, he can reliably grow fruit, nuts and spices.
After nearly a year of having the ability to control plants, he can now reliably grow saplings and young trees, as well as speed up the regular rate of growth of other plants to mere days or weeks, depending on their normal growth rates.
As one of Jaskier's most used and longest magical skills, he can now grow plants to extraordinary heights near-instantly, including trees.
PURIFY The second spell granted by his participation in Eifstide, Jaskier can purify food, drink or people and leave them rendered free from poison and disease. This also prevents things like the molding and rotting of food and drink.
TOXIC PLANTS Event reward. As an evolution of Jaskier's ability to control the growth of plants and tied to his affliction from Adelwyrd, he can now imbue poison/toxicity to plants that would normally not have it. (For example: making a rose's thorns have a poison ivy-like toxin on them.) This effect will last up to an hour, and then the plant will return to its natural state. However, if he mixes a poison or potion with the toxic plant, that creation will retain the toxicity.
AVIAN TRANSFORMATION Event reward. A natural extension of his deep studies with spells involving the creation of birds, Jaskier himself can now transform into a spotted sandpiper, a tiny coastal bird that weighs barely an ounce. He can maintain this transformation for up to several hours now that he has practiced it for over a year, and has been able to also shift into a kestrel, a small falcon.
HEROES' FEAST Event reward. Borne from Jaskier's deep desire to help the Lost when they were taken by Josselyn's cult, Jaskier can bring forth a great feast, including magnificent food and drink. The feast disappears at the end of an hour, and its benefits don't set in until this hour is over.
Upon gaining this ability, the "feast" will appear in the form of pierogi, raw fruits, bread, and/or wine. It will provide only one of the following effects, decided upon by the consumer: curing disease/poison, OR becoming temporarily immune to poison, OR giving a bonus of strength/energy that only lasts a certain amount of time, OR a bit of healing. Jaskier will only be able to create enough for 3 people max when he first gets the spell.
PHOENIX ILLUSION Event reward. Stemming off themes that came up in the Morbol thread, and as an extension as his bird and illusionary powers, Jaskier will be able to become a phoenix. The phoenix is essentially an illusion that surrounds him when he is in his bird transformation, with the very real appearance and sounds of crackling flames around him. However, because of his very real fear of fire magic, it will not be able to hurt, and the flames are not real (though they will create light). It's similar to how birds will puff up when threatened.
— RUMORS —
- As he now sports a large split scar down his left forearm, from wrist to elbow, there are claims he received it in a bandit attack on the edge of town, or attempting to hunt one of the wild birds in the desert outside Cadens.
- He is often in the company of Cadens' local cannabis seller, Nadine.
- Along with Alucard, he is one of the craftsmen responsible for Willow Memorial Park in Libertas.
- There are growing numbers of people in the Free Cities now referring to him as "the Gem of the Phoenix," a man who brought power and dignity back to Libertas after its destruction at the hands of Thorne's queen.
— HAUNTS —
-
Cadens:
- The bathhouse.
- Various taverns and inns where he performs (and drinks).
- A two-story home somewhat close to Cadens' marketplace, which he shares with Ciri and Geralt. Easy to find, considering it's the only house that has a flourishing garden not made of cacti.
— ITEMS —
- A high-quality lute, gifted to him by Ciri, made from Aquila craftsmen.
- Eavesdrop stones. (Look like ordinary small stones, but when separated by more than 10 meters they will activate and the stone left behind will 'pick up' up to 5 minutes of the first conversation it hears and transmit it to the stone Jaskier is holding, like a walkie-talkie. Afterwards they will become ordinary stones again.)
