You and Jayce are truly so annoying about this point. You'll be doing work on my music soon enough as it is. If you're still interested.
[Sorry, buddy, no one's told him you're on the brink of death.]
Oh! That sounds rather nice, actually. Yes, I'll be happy to give you any house plant you need. Something a bit touchy, maybe -- cabbage roses, since they tend to rot with too much touch. You might work on restoring the petals or somesuch. [He is not a scientist.] Shall I bring them by?
I am, yes. Sorry--other things have taken priority at the moment.
[He is on the brink of death!]
Whatever you feel is best. I'm not working out of the shop at the moment--I'm in my laboratory at the Grand Academy. I can meet you at the west entrance to the quad.
Oh! That's a fair point. Well, as far as I can tell, they are fully plants that exist, I simply create them. They don't need further magic to sustain, only the normal needs. Soil, water, a bit of egg water, I've found, is rather good for them. I can come and check on them, if you'd like, but I would be rather horrified to find two men of science can't keep a single plant alive.
[That's not exactly a resounding affirmation that two men of science can keep a plant alive, but it's not in him to push the matter.]
Ah, I see what you mean. Well, I will perhaps feel a little thread snap, so to speak, once they are gone, but there have been no negative effects of such death so far. I'm afraid I learned that lesson rather well after the sweep of curses that only just plagued us. It rotted most of my creations.
[Left for Jaskier at his residence one morning is, probably, one of the plants so generously donated to Viktor and Jayce's shady and undefined experiments. At least, that's what it appears to be--the plant has overgrown its pot and flourished beyond what should be possible with simply water, sun, and TLC. But, hey, at least it's not dead.
There's no note! It's all very mysterious. Enjoy.]

[give something sentience? well, not the plants...]
You don't have to worry about that. It's an experiment involving regenerative magics.

[He could have simply not said this and been innocuous about it, but now it's coming to mind that something somewhat unsavory may be happening here.]

[He should stop here! He should shut up and not say anything else!!!]
In the event that some die during testing, I wanted to make sure that would not have an adverse effect on you.

My hope is that you won't feel a thing.

[There is certainly some concern there now.]

Also mysterious as it is, luckily he has Geralt to give it a sniff and tell him from where the strange plant has returned to him.
The lab will receive a hand-written letter with dried ink on parchment decorated along the edges with vines.]
While I did mention I had yet to receive a refund, I did not expect a gift returned, either.
However, since it is in better condition, I won't hold it against you.
Do tell me what you're up to one day. The leaves here insist they have such a story to tell me.
[Whether Jaskier can actually talk to plants or not is a mystery in return.]
